We are in search of a Senior tax accountant to join our clients team in a family business based in Flint, Michigan. In this role, you will be handling various accounting tasks, including account reconciliation, tax return preparation, and general ledger maintenance. This position offers an exciting opportunity for those with a strong background in accounting and a keen eye for detail. This is a in office role in the Flint area.
Responsibilities:
• Conduct account reconciliations and balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance.
• Oversee the preparation of tax returns and tax documents, ensuring compliance with tax laws.
• Maintain the general ledger, ensuring all financial reporting is accurate.
• Assist with audit preparation by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
• Review and verify the accuracy of journal entries and accounting classifications assigned to various records.
• Monitor customer accounts and take appropriate action based on account activity.
• Utilize advanced Excel skills to process data and generate reports.
• Review investment transactions for accuracy as part of the financial analysis process.
• Utilize NetSuite systems for various accounting tasks.
• Handle trust accounting tasks and prepare individual tax returns.clients
Required:
• Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience doing general accounting and tax accounting work. Public accounting experience highly preferred.
• Proficiency in Account Reconciliation, Balance Sheet Reconciliation, and Bank Reconciliations is necessary
• Must have extensive experience with General Ledger operations and Journal Entries
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required
• Experience with Month End Close procedures is essential
• Familiarity with NetSuite preferred
• Experience with Trust Tax Returns and Individual Tax Return preparation is required
• Must have a solid understanding of Trust Accounting
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are necessary
• Must have a proven track record of accuracy and attention to detail
• A bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field is required
• A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification is strongly preferred
• Must have the ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Must have strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions
• Requires the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
