Automation Engineer
The Automation Engineer will propose, evaluate, and oversee equipment used in the manufacturing processes and automation initiatives. This person will lead projects through Quoting, Planning, Implementation and Start up Processes.

- Exercise maximum care to protect the environment by fostering and supporting responsible operating procedures.
- Work with maintenance and production to design and implement automated production processes. This would include Robotic, PLC and other controls.
- Plan, analyze, design, specify, prepare estimates and gather other required information for manufacturing processing and automation projects in accordance with accepted engineering principles and practices.
- Work with corporate and local IT personnel to link all present and future PLC driven equipment to the ethernet for production tracking.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, operations and other technical people to mutually resolve problems involving casting processing and automation systems.
- Work with maintenance staff to continually improve machine and process efficiencies.
- Assist robotic automation technicians in setting up new cells and creating new programs.
- Revise and streamline all PLC programs, eliminating nuisance alarms and conditions and improving overall functionality.
- Participate in continuous improvement efforts throughout the plant.
- Experience setting up standard work, maintenance PM’s, work instructions. robotics standards in programming would be a plus.
- Ability to organize, direct and motivate people.
- Analyze foundry processes by tracing process steps, identifying component parts and equipment, determining control capabilities and capacities and recording settings.
- Ability to plan out projects by coordinating steps of the project, effectively communicating project timelines with the appropriate teams and work effectively with maintenance and operations.
- Hands on completion of PMs with necessary support from maintenance personnel, as needed.
- Ensure equipment calibration and PMs are performed on schedule and accurate records/repairs are recorded to establish statistical data which can be used for trouble shooting and effective predictive maintenance.
Qualifications
- Associate’s Degree preferred
- Previous Automation Engineering experience
- Must have previous leadership experience
