We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Cross-Sectioning Electronic Technician to support material testing and metal development projects. The ideal candidate will have hands-on expertise in cross-sectioning, sample preparation, cutting, polishing, and imaging using advanced microscopy techniques. This role is crucial for both research and development as well as material testing efforts, requiring the ability to work independently and report findings to lab engineers and team members.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare cross-sectional samples with accuracy and consistency, including cutting, potting, and polishing.
- Operate and maintain cross-sectioning equipment and advanced microscopy tools for imaging and analysis.
- Perform material testing, capturing images, measuring thickness, and reporting on material properties.
- Document and report findings clearly, collaborating with lab engineers and other team members to ensure project goals are met.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Qualifications:
- 2-8 years of direct experience in cross-sectioning, polishing, and material testing.
- Expertise in metal development and experience with testing machines such as DMA, DSC, TMA, TGA, Instron/DIC, and Split Hopkinson Pressure Bar.
- Experience in using cross-sectioning equipment and microscopes for imaging and analysis.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently with no additional training required for cross-sectioning and polishing tasks.
- Knowledge of materials characterization techniques and industry standards.
- Familiarity with data analysis software.
- Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Engineering, or a related field (candidates with relevant hands-on experience are also encouraged to apply).
