Lead innovative product development and drive continuous improvement as a Design Engineer, utilizing your expertise in metal fabrication and electro/mechanical design.
The Design Engineer is responsible for leading the development of new products from concept through to product release and continuous product improvements. This role involves creating design drawings, coordinating product development activities, troubleshooting design issues, and providing engineering support across multiple departments, including sales, manufacturing, marketing, production, and quality. The Design Engineer plays a critical role in ensuring products meet design specifications and are released on schedule.
Key Responsibilities:
Product Development:
- Lead the development of new products from concept to product release, including design, prototyping, testing, tooling, and pilot production.
- Prepare design drawings from sketches, specifications, or other materials using SolidWorks.
Coordination and Troubleshooting:
- Coordinate all activities within product development to ensure that scheduled release dates are met.
- Troubleshoot and resolve problems related to product design and implementation.
Cross-Departmental Support:
- Provide engineering support to sales, manufacturing, marketing, production, and quality teams.
- Assist in resolving technical issues during manufacturing and assembly processes.
Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for product improvements and implement design modifications to enhance product performance and reliability.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Strong technical aptitude and understanding of product design and development processes.
Tools and Skills:
- Proficiency in using SolidWorks for design and drafting.
- Programming experience with G & M Code.
- Strong knowledge of metal fabrication processes, including turret, brake, roll forming, and molding equipment.
