Proper Hospitality is seeking a dynamic and well-connected Director of Business Development to drive rooms and event sales across our portfolio of boutique luxury lifestyle hotels.
As a Business Development Director, you will be responsible for identifying and securing new business opportunities across all of our hotels, with a focus on rooms and event business. Your primary goal will be to generate new clients, increase sales revenue, and foster relationships within key industries such as technology, fashion, finance, entertainment and public relations (PR). You will play a pivotal role in expanding our market presence and driving success for our properties.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead Generation: Proactively identify and pursue new business opportunities for rooms, events, and corporate group bookings across all hotel properties
- Industry Networking: Leverage your existing connections and develop relationships with key decision-makers in the technology, fashion, finance, entertainment, and PR industries to generate new business
- Client Engagement: Conduct client meetings, presentations, and site visits to showcase the unique offerings of each hotel in our collection
- Sales Strategy: Collaborate with the sales and marketing teams to develop and implement tailored strategies that align with the brand’s growth objectives
- Cross-Selling: Maximize opportunities by cross-selling our properties to clients based on their business needs, ensuring alignment with their requirements for rooms, meeting spaces, events, and retreats
- Market Research: Stay informed about industry trends, competitor activity, and emerging markets to identify new sales opportunities
- Relationship Management: Build and maintain long-term relationships with clients, event planners, and corporate partners to encourage repeat business and referrals
- Target Achievement: Achieve quarterly and annual revenue targets for new business acquisition and ensure consistent growth in room and event bookings across the portfolio
- Collaboration: Work closely with the sales and events teams at each hotel to ensure smooth coordination of bookings, seamless client experiences, and optimal revenue generation
Qualifications:
- Industry Connections: Strong, existing network within the tech, fashion, finance, entertainment, and PR industries is essential
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in sales, business development, or a related role within the hospitality, luxury, or lifestyle industries
- Sales Expertise: Proven track record of generating new business, exceeding sales targets, and driving revenue growth, ideally across multiple properties or regions
- Communication Skills: Excellent presentation, negotiation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence key stakeholders at all levels
- Self-Motivated: Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and take initiative in a fast-paced environment
- Travel: Willingness to travel frequently across our hotel locations and attend client meetings, networking events, and industry conferences as needed
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, hospitality, marketing, or a related field is preferred
