Summary:
We are working with a relatively new game studio in California to find a Lead Engine Programmer with a passion for gaming and empowering content creators to deliver cutting-edge experiences. The team are working on a very ambitious AAA title and looking for someone with passion for doing things at the highest standard to join the team.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and collaborate with a core technology team to develop and optimize engine systems, focusing on performance.
- Manage schedules and backlogs in partnership with design, production, and engineering leadership.
- Establish and validate engine system budgets and pipeline tools.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship across the engineering team.
- Assist in recruitment, onboarding, and fostering a positive team culture.
- Refactor systems to manage large worlds with dynamic content.
- Utilize profiling tools to identify and resolve performance issues (CPU/GPU).
- Continuously improve systems to achieve cutting-edge solutions.
Essential Skills:
- 9+ years of professional game programming experience, including work on at least one shipped AAA title.
- Expertise in C++, debugging, and 3D mathematics.
- Strong understanding of PC/console hardware bottlenecks and optimization strategies.
- Experience in multithreaded programming and game console hardware.
- Strong leadership and management skills, with experience mentoring and leading teams.
- Deep knowledge of engine systems like physics, streaming, and audio.
