JOB SUMMARY: The Communications & Engagement Specialist will coordinate daily communications activities and develops dynamic, relevant and engaging content for all Tepeyac Community Health Center (TCHC) social platforms, including the website, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Facebook, utilizing both still and video media. Develops ideas for and produces shareable, social-first content that drives engagement ensuring brand identity is maintained. Produces internal and external TCHC e-newsletters. Creates graphics, templates, and designs as needed for in-house and external marketing and development pieces and the TCHC website. Engages with the community to build and strengthen relationships, promote TCHC’s mission, and enhance the organization's visibility through strategic community engagement initiatives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Implement social media strategies and annual tactics with Tepeyac staff, focusing on events to engage and grow the digital community.
- Identify departmental communications needs and collaborate in the development of comprehensive communication plans.
- Coordinate marketing and communication plans for Tepeyac sponsored events, ensuring consistent messaging.
- Create, adapt, and optimize engaging content, including stories, for social media, emails, press releases, and e-newsletters.
- Edit written, graphic, and video content, ensuring effective tracking parameters.
- Coordinate posts across various social media platforms, enhancing the unique strengths of each platform.
- Update content, links, videos, and photos on the Tepeyac website on a weekly and monthly basis, and in real-time (such as for job postings).
- Develop advocacy emails and e-newsletters for employees, patients, donors, and other stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain a high level of understanding of the organization’s brand, target market, and marketing needs.
- Perform social listening and explore new marketing tools, technologies, platforms and outlets in promoting the organization.
- Gather and analyze data metrics to evaluate the efficacy, engagement and reach of posted content and progress on communications plans and deliverables.
- Work with IT to ensure all web and technology policies and procedures are being followed.
- Collaborate with communications colleagues at other community health centers to develop ideas and support common community needs.
- Build and maintain relationships with community members, stakeholders, and local organizations to foster a positive image of Tepeyac.
- Participate in select community events, and outreach activities to promote TCHC’s services and initiatives.
- Monitor and report on community engagement metrics to assess the impact of engagement strategies and make data-driven adjustments as needed.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Attend monthly all-staff meetings, staff retreats, and other staff functions.
- Perform other communications and community engagement tasks as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: We are looking for a combination of 5 to 6 years of relevant experience in marketing, communication, community engagement and/or outreach. Developing and implementing business social media accounts, including development campaigns. Experience with community outreach activities, graphic design and video editing preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Strong writing, proofreading, and verbal communication skills required.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) and bicultural background preferred.
- Proficient in social media platforms, digital content creation and maintaining knowledge of new trends.
- Ability to successfully launch and manage social media campaigns.
- Ability to create ad hoc social media graphics/posts and memes including professional images, logos, templates, and designs.
- Knowledge of desktop publishing and video/content editing software.
- Basic website management skills including ability to update content, links, photos, and videos on organization’s website.
- Working knowledge of marketing concepts, strategies, and practices.
- Ability to execute short- and long-term marketing and communications campaigns under deadlines.
- Ability to adapt tactics to meet changing organizational goals; positive problem-solving approach.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to effectively organize and prioritize overlapping project demands and to coordinate multiple projects in collaboration with appropriate staff.

PAY AND BENEFITS: Benefits: Tepeyac offers a full compensation package to all full-time employees. Benefits include medical, dental and vision insurance, a flexible spending account, a 401k, disability insurance paid for by Tepeyac, eight paid holidays, four weeks of vacation and 8 days of sick leave each year. The salary range for this position is $55,000 to 75,000 annually, depending on years of experience and/or education.
