Quality Engineer (1st Shift)
Performs functions to lead quality control operations and final inspection of finished products to meet quality standards. Investigates and analyzes quality problems, recommends, and implements solutions, and ensures corrective actions are completed. Leads internal quality audit program and has a working knowledge of IATF16949. Works in conjunction with Engineering, Manufacturing and Operations to drive continuous improvement to ensure quality objectives are met.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Participate in daily Gemba Walks throughout production floor and ensure quality issues have been identified and addressed.
· Analyze defective parts and/or processes to determine root cause of defect and implement corrective/preventive actions to prevent future failures.
· Manage tracking and reporting of warranty and quality issues throughout the facility.
· Assign CAPA’s for warranty and quality issues, train team members on appropriate problem-solving techniques, and verify implementation.
· Applies statistical analysis and concepts to the manufacturing process.
· Develop control plans, work instructions and determines measuring equipment for new product implementation/manufacturing.
· Perform Product and Process audits determine the processes are good and are being followed.
· Support analyzing warranty parts to determine the root cause of defect and provide solutions for corrective/preventive actions to prevent future failures.
· Support notifying suppliers regarding nonconformities and ensure correction utilizing 8D.
· Support calibration of measuring equipment.
· Assist Management with maintaining and improving the Quality Management System to be consistent with IATF 16949.
· Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree in engineering
· Minimum of five years of experience in a manufacturing environment
· In-depth knowledge of one or more of the following: Metal Fabrication, Machining, Coating or Assembly
· Knowledge and practical application of lean manufacturing principles and tools
· Strong verbal and written communication skills
· Ability to provide technical leadership to plant personnel
· Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
· Interpretation of statistical data, engineering prints, engineering specifications
· Demonstrates computer skills and aptitude, Microsoft Office
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
· Demonstrates punctual, reliable, and predictable attendance
Experience:
Bachelor's (Preferred)
Quality systems: 5 years (Preferred)
Lean Six Sigma: 5 years (Preferred)
Quality Engineering: 5 years (Preferred)
