Job Summary:
The Senior Network Security Engineer II is tasked with the design, implementation, and maintenance of advanced network security systems to ensure a robust and secure IT infrastructure. This role includes leading the development of security standards, managing security equipment, and troubleshooting network issues. The engineer will handle network security hardware and software, conduct system audits, and spearhead disaster recovery planning. Key technologies include Palo Alto Firewalls, GlobalProtect, Panorama, virtualization tools, and various networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, BGP, OSPF, etc.).
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and Implementation: Develop and maintain network security hardware and software.
- Security Standards: Lead the creation of security standards for all network-related equipment.
- System Administration: Oversee the administration, deployment, and troubleshooting of network security systems.
- Project Management: Plan projects, analyze costs, and evaluate vendors.
- System Audits and Upgrades: Perform system audits, upgrades, and disaster recovery planning.
Required Skills:
- Technical Expertise: Proficiency in Palo Alto Networks PAN-OS, Palo Alto Firewalls, GlobalProtect, and Panorama.
- Networking Knowledge: Strong understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, BGP, OSPF, VLAN, VPN, SDWAN).
- IT Infrastructure: Experience with IT infrastructure, including Active Directory, virtualization, and security systems.
- Operating Systems: Familiarity with Linux and Microsoft server operating systems.
- Tools Proficiency: Skilled in using Citrix Load Balancers, Splunk, SolarWinds, Cisco IOS, and Wireshark.
- Disaster Recovery: Knowledge in disaster recovery, system logs analysis, and security equipment installation.
- Certifications: Certifications such as PCNSE, PCCSE, and PCSAE are a plus.
This role requires extensive hands-on experience in network security, with strong knowledge of both Microsoft and Linux-based systems. The engineer will collaborate closely with teams to make critical technical decisions, perform seamless upgrades, and ensure compliance with industry standards. Additionally, strong project management, communication, and problem-solving skills are essential to lead security initiatives and work effectively with departments and external vendors.
