Reports to: Retail Manager
Overall Responsibilities: Leads operations in the café including inventory management, prepares and cooks to order a variety of foods, and plates dishes in an attractive way to serve a quality product to our guests. Works week days and every other weekend (hours may vary depending on events).
Key Tasks & Responsibilities
- Responsible for inventory management including ordering of food, beverages, and supplies needed in the café
- Purchase or requisition supplies and equipment needed to ensure quality and timely delivery of services
- Responsible for keeping accurate inventory of food items
- Restock kitchen supplies, rotates food, and stamps the time and date on food in coolers
- Train new staff in food preparation, food safety, and sanitation
- Recommend measures for improving work procedures and worker performance to increase service quality and enhance job safety
- Assist in resolving customer complaints regarding food service
- Inspect supplies, equipment, and work areas to ensure efficient service and conformance to standards
- Works under the direct supervision of the Retail Manager
- Prepare food for our customers – made to order
- Perform food preparation tasks, such as making sandwiches, carving meats and cheeses, making soups or salads, preparing breads or desserts, and brewing coffee, tea, or other drinks.
- Grill, cook, prepare, and garnish foods such as eggs, French toast, roast beef, turkey, ham, chicken, soups, salads, and cheese boards
- Plan work on orders so that items served together are finished at the same time
- Clean food preparation equipment, work areas, and counters or tables and ensures the kitchen is cleaned up to high store standards
- May take orders from customers and serve patrons at counters or tables
- Participate in kitchen and dining area cleaning activities including washing dishes
- Prepare and evaluate event menu costs for current market trends
- Record and evaluate ticket times for continuous improvement
- Other duties as assigned
Skills & Attributes
- Performs physical activities that require considerable amounts of standing, walking, lifting 5 – 25 lbs, bending, and squatting while handling materials
- Food Production — Knowledge of techniques and equipment for food preparation and cooking including storage/handling techniques
- Production and Processing — Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of food
- Customer and Personal Service — Knowledge of principles and processes for providing excellent customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction
- Knowledge and understanding of Point of sale POS software
