Job Summary: As a Datacenter Infrastructure Construction Manager, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the planning, design, and construction of critical infrastructure within data center facilities. You will collaborate closely with various teams to ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet the high standards of reliability and efficiency required for modern data centers.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Project Management:
- Manage the end-to-end construction lifecycle of data center infrastructure projects.
- Develop project plans, timelines, and budgets, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and requirements.
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, and vendors to oversee project execution.
2. Financial Management:
- Oversee project budgets and P&L responsibilities, ensuring financial targets are met and costs are controlled.
- Prepare financial forecasts and reports, analyzing variances and implementing corrective actions as necessary.
3. Infrastructure Design and Planning:
- Participate in the design and layout of data center facilities, including power distribution, cooling systems, networking infrastructure, and physical security measures.
- Ensure designs meet industry standards for reliability, scalability, and energy efficiency.
4. Resource Management:
- Allocate resources effectively to support construction activities, including personnel, equipment, and materials procurement.
- Monitor resource utilization and optimize workflows to enhance project efficiency.
5. Quality Assurance and Compliance:
- Implement quality assurance processes to maintain high construction standards and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure adherence to design specifications and safety protocols.
6. Risk Management:
- Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize disruptions to project timelines and budgets.
- Proactively address issues related to construction delays, budget overruns, or technical challenges.
7. Stakeholder Communication:
- Serve as a primary point of contact for stakeholders, providing regular updates on project progress, milestones, and key decisions.
- Facilitate communication between internal teams, external contractors, and senior management.
8. Continuous Improvement:
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize data center construction processes and methodologies.
- Implement best practices and lessons learned from previous projects to enhance operational efficiency and project outcomes.
Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong project management skills with a proven track record of delivering complex projects on time and within budget.
- In-depth knowledge of data center infrastructure systems, including power distribution, HVAC, fire suppression, and physical security.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and disciplines.
- Proficiency in project management software and tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).
- Understanding of regulatory requirements and building codes related to data center construction.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, or equivalent combination of education and experience Education level (HS/AS/BA+ Degree requirement or equivalent experience required/preferred and area of study).
- At least 5 years of experience in managing construction projects, within the data center or critical infrastructure sector.
- Certification in Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent.
- Experience with green building certifications (e.g., LEED).
- Familiarity with cloud computing technologies and their impact on data center design and construction.
- Experience with BIM (billing information modeling) is preferred
