Job Summary:
As the Vice President of Operations, you will oversee all aspects of the company’s operational processes and play a critical role in scaling our fintech platform to meet growing demand. You will be responsible for driving operational excellence, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, managing risk, and optimizing end-to-end operational workflows. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in fintech operations, a strategic mindset, and the ability to lead high-performing teams in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:
- Develop and execute the operational strategy to support the company’s long-term goals and growth plans.
- Collaborate with executive leadership to define and implement initiatives that drive efficiency, scalability, and profitability across the organization.
- Provide thought leadership on industry trends, regulatory developments, and emerging technologies to keep the company ahead of the curve.
Operational Oversight:
- Lead, manage, and scale the operations team, ensuring that all transaction processing, reconciliation, and customer service functions are optimized for efficiency and accuracy.
- Oversee the entire operational workflow, from onboarding customers to transaction settlement, ensuring a seamless experience for all users.
- Implement robust process improvement frameworks, leveraging automation, AI, and other technologies to streamline operations.
Risk and Compliance Management:
- Ensure full compliance with financial regulations (e.g., KYC, AML, PCI DSS) and maintain strong risk management practices across all operational processes.
- Oversee internal audits, regularly evaluate operational risks, and implement mitigation strategies to address any vulnerabilities.
- Partner with legal and compliance teams to ensure that all fintech services meet regulatory standards in all regions of operation.
Vendor and Partner Relations:
- Manage relationships with external partners, including banks, payment processors, technology vendors, and other service providers, ensuring adherence to SLAs and operational excellence.
- Negotiate contracts with third-party vendors and drive partnership strategies that align with company goals.
Performance Management and Reporting:
- Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to operational efficiency, transaction processing times, error rates, customer satisfaction, and cost management.
- Present regular reports to the executive team and board of directors, providing insights into operational performance, areas for improvement, and strategic recommendations.
Team Leadership and Development:
- Build and mentor a high-performing operations team, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure that team members have the necessary tools, training, and development opportunities to succeed and grow within the organization.
Business Continuity and Scalability:
- Design and implement business continuity and disaster recovery plans to ensure uninterrupted operations in the event of system outages or unforeseen disruptions.
- Ensure that the company’s operational infrastructure can scale effectively with business growth and market expansion.
Key Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Operations Management, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- Experience: 10+ years of experience in operations leadership roles, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership position within fintech, financial services, or a related industry.
- Proven Expertise: Deep understanding of fintech operations, including payments, transaction processing, customer onboarding, and regulatory compliance (KYC, AML, GDPR, etc.).
Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of operational systems and technologies, including automation tools, payment gateways, and data analytics platforms.
- Proficiency in using data to drive decision-making and optimize operational processes.
Soft Skills:
- Exceptional leadership and team management skills, with a proven track record of building and scaling high-performing teams.
- Strategic thinker with excellent problem-solving abilities and a focus on operational excellence.
- Outstanding communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and executive leadership.
