- Collaborate with closures suppliers to ensure technical excellence and on time delivery of Mahindra closures systems.

Job description
The Manager for Closures Engineering Design (BIW & Mechanisms) is responsible for supporting and executing a strong vision, strategy, and business plan for a growing and diverse team. The team consists of two key groups: 1) Closures Mechanisms 2) Closures BIW.
The successful candidate will have a wide breadth of Automotive experience with the ability to lead the design and development of numerous vehicles that meet or exceed our global and local customer requirements from concept through lifecycle production while simultaneously developing new technologies and adhering to the highest safety standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities, including but not limited to:
- Strategic Leadership: Create, communicate, and execute the Closures Engineering Design Mechanisms & BIW Team vision laid out by Sr. Management in support of Mahindra groups visions, goals, and business objectives.
- Business Management: Successfully meet all KPI's, including Program Timing, Cost & Quality Improvement, Intellectual Property, Budget, Personnel Development, Corporate Culture, etc. Develop goals and objectives for all direct reports.
Lead tasks and projects to support the related team's work plan, ensuring all goals and budget spending are met for Closures Engineering Design Mechanisms & BIW R&D budget.
- Team Management: Support annual teamwork plan and budget in support of Mahindra Detroit’s Engineering team's vision.

Ensure administrative functions such as purchasing requests, timecards, vacation requests, travel requests, etc., are followed on a timely basis
- Vehicle Development: Be a subject matter expert in relation to Automotive Closure Mechanisms & BIW Systems (Ex: Latches, Strikers, Handles, Gas Lifters, Power Lifters, manual and Testing for Closure Mechanisms & BIW System designs especially for our focused efforts with Electrified Vehicles. Ensure Vehicle Development process is followed from concept to postproduction, satisfying all customer requirements along the way. Conduct competitive benchmarking, detailed engineering cost/weight analysis, performing drawing release, executing engineering orders, meeting safety/regulatory targets, etc. Closures Mechanism & BIW Manager also leads releasing responsibilities of all drawings released by the Closures Mechanism Team Engineers
- Collaboration and Stakeholder Management: Advocate for the internal and external customers. Support collaboration with affiliates: Sales and Marketing, Manufacturing, Quality, and corporate headquarters in India. Actively engaging with all levels, from Engineers, to managers to Presidents and C-Suite, building effective relationships with all. Interface and co-work with other teams within local teams and Headquarters in India and its affiliates - Project Management, Product Planning, Materials Development, Safety Integration, regulation and Marketing, Manufacturing - provide support as required with testing, development, vehicle clinics, etc.
- Technology Assessment and Development: Support new technology assessment and development: Support development of technical road maps and strategies with the goal of implementing to the production vehicle; Liaise with multiple testing and development labs; Provide support to new technology research and adoption projects.
- Communication: Interface and co-work with other teams within Mahindra and its affiliates: Product Planning, Propulsion, Vehicle Test and Development, Electronics, regulation and Marketing, sales and marketing, manufacturing, etc. Support creation of presentations for President, reoccurring group updates summarizing the key activities and plans. Review progress to work plan and quality of work. Provide technical direction and guidance. Accurately maintain and update project status reports and review with upper management routinely.
- Budgeting and Resource Allocation: Support development of R&D budget, ensuring optimal utilization of resources. Monitor and be first line approver for expenses, identify savings opportunities, and support project/strategic investment decisions to support all R&D activities.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Travel up to 20% of time domestically and internationally.

- Education and Experience:
- Bachelors in engineering (minimum) with master's degree Preferred.
- 12-15 years in automotive vehicle design and development with increasing levels of project and team management
- 3+ years managing an Engineering Department or Section.
- Significant experience and expertise in automotive areas eg: Closures Moving, Closures.
- Mechanisms, CAE, Testing, Quality, production launch.
- Experience working and accepting culturally diverse team environment and willingness to learn new ways of interacting
- Valid Driver's License and satisfactory driving record
- Candidates applying for positions with Mahindra must be legally authorized to work in the United States, verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire.
- Expert in CATIA, CAE or similar systems
- Expert Project Management skills
- Flexible in program and process changes. Mahindra is willing to make late changes to satisfy customer needs.
