JOB OVERVIEW
Codaray Construction is seeking an experienced Superintendent in the South Mississippi market. The ideal candidate must be willing to travel.
The Superintendent’s primary responsibility is to be Codaray Construction’s main contact in the field and work in concert with the Project Manager to schedule, plan and direct all field operations to include management of all work by Codaray’s own forces and that of the subcontractors.
The Superintendent has full responsibility for initiating and implementing all pertinent safety and quality control policies and procedures. Additional responsibilities include review of subcontractor scopes, adherence to budget and ensuring the construction process and building are completed to the client’s full satisfaction.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Reviews owner contract, specifications, and drawings.
- Reviews budgets, scopes, and buyout with Project Manager.
- Coordinates development of site-specific Safety Program & Quality Program.
- Develops site logistics/utilization plan.
- Participates in the development of the master project schedule; identifies critical issues, milestones, and long leads.
- Oversees the identification of need for field labor, material & equipment requirements.
- Identifies plan and executes required commissioning activities.
- Manages closeout/final acceptance process.
- Effectively demobilizes project site and completes inventory of company assets.
- Maintains contact with owner through warranty period.
- Implements site logistics/utilization plan.
- Effectively utilizes and communicates, updates, and manages project schedule.
- Establishes Phasing/Sequence Plan.
- Establishes certified building control.
- Incorporates subcontractors’ input in the Project Plan.
- Establishes Disaster Response and Crisis Control Plans.
- Implements and monitors site-specific Safety Plan.
- Ensures daily project-wide housekeeping procedures are enforced.
- Maintains proper signage and notices.
- Promotes and enforces Safety rules and regulations.
- Prepares daily Superintendent reports.
- Updates master project schedule.
- Utilizes Look Ahead Schedule to manage progress of the work.
- Ensures current contract documents are used.
- Constructively participates in owner’s meetings.
- Constructs mockups and conducts water tests.
- Involves manufacturer’s representatives as appropriate (building envelope).
- Verifies skill level of trades people and takes appropriate action.
- Participates in Project Status Reviews.
- Accurately codes labor material costs.
- Manages material purchases, equipment utilization and third-party rentals.
- Effectively resolves disputes between subs to eliminate back charges and extra costs.
- Provides effective leadership to project team.
- Constructively participates in regular staff meetings.
- Enforces Codaray policies and procedures.
- Resolves project field staff conflicts.
- Promotes employee morale.
- Commands respect of peers and project staff, owners, and subcontractors.
- Mentors and trains project field staff – conducts OJT.
- Delegates appropriately and clearly communicates expectations.
- Recognizes and acknowledges accomplishments.
- Coordinates with Human Resources on personnel actions and documents.
- Always represents Codaray in a professional manner.
- Understands and communicates Owner and Subcontractor expectations of Codaray.
- Treats subcontractors fairly and promotes their success.

- Resolves disputes in a timely manner.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Must exhibit Codaray Construction’s Core Values (Integrity, Passion, Unity, Sustainability, Humility)
- Bachelor’s degree in construction/engineering or equivalent combination of technical training and related experience required
- Minimum of ten (10) years’ construction experience with seven (7) years in leadership role
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Efficiency in Microsoft Office and other construction software utilized by the company
- Ability to interpret construction documents
- Self-motivated and ability to adapt to assigned tasks
- Ability to lead and evaluate craft performance
- Advanced knowledge of various construction disciplines, safety regulations, scheduling, cost control, engineering drawings and other documents

- Driving to meetings and job sites
- Working on jobsites - climbing stairs, ladders, etc.
- 20/20 vision (with or without correction); climbing stairs; talking; hearing (with or without aid); and typing/computer entry.
DRIVER LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
Current valid driver’s license. Favorable driving record required for company vehicle or auto allowance.
