Fusion Coolant Systems CNC Programmer
Job Summary:
Fusion Coolant Systems is looking for an experienced CNC Programmer to join our innovative team, specializing in the production of bone screw implants and aerospace fasteners. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Swiss-type CNC machinery, multi-axis turn & mill machinery, and the application of supercritical CO2 technology to optimize production speed, reduce tool wear and produce deburr-free components in PEEK plastics, Titanium and Cobalt Chrome alloys.
This position will be hybrid requiring up to 25% time at Canton, MI facility and 75% of the time at domestic and international Customer sites to advise and work on programming support and productivity & quality challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
Programming:
- Develop, test, and optimize CNC programs for Swiss-type CNC machinery and multi-axis turn & mill machines using advanced CAD/CAM software.
- Utilize supercritical CO2 technology in programming to enhance production efficiency, tool longevity, and product quality.
- Create detailed CNC programs ensuring precise manufacturing of bone screw implants and aerospace fasteners.
Machine Setup and Operation:
- Set up Swiss-type CNC and multi-axis turn & mill machinery for production runs, ensuring optimal machine configuration.
- Select appropriate tools, fixtures, and materials, considering the use of supercritical CO2 for cooling and deburring.
- Conduct test runs to validate programs and adjust as necessary to meet tight tolerances and specifications.
Quality Control:
- Perform in-process inspections to ensure components meet strict medical and aerospace standards.
- Implement and monitor quality control procedures, leveraging supercritical CO2 technology to achieve deburr-free finishes.
- Troubleshoot and resolve any programming or machining issues promptly.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of CNC programs, setup sheets, and tooling information.
- Document any program changes or process improvements and communicate these to the team.
- Analyze production data to identify trends and opportunities for further optimization.
Continuous Improvement:
- Engage in continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing production speed, tool wear, and component quality.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in CNC technology, supercritical CO2 applications, and machining techniques.
- Mentor and train junior machinists and programmers, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous learning.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
- Associate's degree or certification in CNC programming, machining, or a related field. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in CNC programming and operation, with specific experience in Swiss-type CNC and multi-axis turn & mill machinery.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in advanced CAD/CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
- Deep understanding of Swiss-type CNC and multi-axis turn & mill machinery.
- Knowledge of materials used in medical implants and aerospace fasteners, such as titanium and stainless steel.
- Familiarity with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and ISO standards.
- Experience with supercritical CO2 technology for cooling and deburring processes.
