Position Title: CDL Driver

Reports To: Operations Manager / Dispatcher
Job Overview:The CDL Driver is responsible for the safe transportation of cranes, rigging equipment, and materials to and from job sites. This position plays a critical role in ensuring timely deliveries, safe loading and unloading, and adherence to all traffic and safety regulations. The ideal candidate will have experience in the construction or rigging industries and a solid understanding of operating heavy commercial vehicles.
Key Responsibilities:- Safely operate commercial vehicles (flatbeds, tractor-trailers, etc.) to transport cranes, rigging equipment, and materials to designated locations.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure equipment safety and compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
- Load, secure, and unload equipment and materials in accordance with safety and company standards.
- Collaborate with rigging and crane operators to ensure timely and accurate deliveries to job sites.
- Maintain logs of working hours, vehicle service, or repair status, following applicable regulations.
- Adhere to all local, state, and federal traffic laws, as well as company policies regarding safe driving and operations.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, supervisors, and site personnel for instructions and updates on deliveries.
- Assist in rigging operations when required, ensuring safe transport of loads and equipment.
- Perform minor vehicle maintenance and notify mechanics of any needed repairs.
- Keep vehicles clean and in good working condition.
- Follow site safety protocols and maintain certifications related to crane and rigging operations.
Qualifications:- Valid CDL Class A or B license with a clean driving record.
- 2+ years of experience as a CDL driver, preferably in the crane or rigging industry.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and requirements.
- Ability to operate manual and automatic transmissions.
- Familiarity with securing and transporting heavy equipment.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and handle equipment during loading/unloading processes.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work well with a team.
- Certification in rigging or signalperson training (preferred but not required).
- Willingness to travel to various job sites as needed.
Education and Experience:- High school diploma or GED.
- Prior experience in the construction, crane, or rigging industries is preferred.
Work Environment:- Driving and working in outdoor environments in various weather conditions.
- Frequent travel to job sites, some requiring overnight stays.
