LHH Recruitment Solutions is seeking a skilled Electrical Engineer to join our client’s team, supporting capital projects from conceptual design through to commissioning. This dual-role position also serves as a key resource for electrical systems across our operations in the USA, Canada, and South America. The Electrical Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance technical knowledge and project outcomes.
Responsibilities:
- Provide expert advice on equipment selection, configuration, and troubleshooting for power electrical systems, including transformers, switchgear, MCCs, starters, VFDs, motors, and feeders.
- Collaborate with Operations, Process, and Project Management teams to develop project scopes, estimations, specifications, control narratives, and conceptual designs.
- Act as a subject matter expert in various electrical engineering areas, supporting system design, engineering reviews, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assist and advise on electrical engineering functions such as power loading analysis, device coordination, arc flash safety, energy use, and short circuit studies.
- Review and approve work from external engineering consultants, including flow diagrams, single-line drawings, P&IDs, schematics, general arrangement drawings, specifications, RFQs, bid evaluations, vendor drawings, as-built drawings, and manuals.
- Support process control systems by troubleshooting and proposing performance improvement projects, including instrumentation selection, data networks, HMI, PLC operations, and other electrical systems.
- Direct and coordinate internal and external project resources.
- Oversee the commissioning of electrical systems, ensuring vendor compliance with scope and functionality requirements.
- Uphold safety, environmental compliance, equipment reliability, and cost control standards.
- Implement consistent internal goals and tasks for operations.
- Interface with equipment and system integration vendors, expediting documentation and deliveries.
- Support training initiatives, including apprentice programs and electrical safety training.
- Ensure electrical systems perform safely and reliably, complying with safety, environmental, and engineering codes.
- Meet or exceed performance management goals consistently.
- Focus on functional effectiveness, long-term reliability, and ease of maintenance to meet end-user expectations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or an Associate’s degree with relevant experience.
- 8+ years of experience in electrical and instrumentation engineering, preferably in the lime/cement/bulk material handling industry; project engineering experience is a plus.
- Proficiency in industrial power tasks such as power factor correction, grounding, motor tests, power quality, electrical protection settings, VFD configuration, and instrument calibration.
- Knowledge of the National Electrical Code, NFPA Electrical Standards, and basic MSHA and EPA regulations.
- Experience with process control instrumentation, calibration, and troubleshooting; familiarity with HMI and PLC programs, especially Wonderware and ControlLogix.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a detail-oriented approach; ability to perform root-cause analysis on electrical systems, including medium and low voltage distribution systems, starters, motors, and VFDs.
- Willingness to travel up to 35% domestically, with some international travel, including extended assignments during critical construction and start-up periods.
