General Manager / COO
The Chief Operation Officer will plan and oversee future planning goals for the company as well as the daily operations including human resources, production, maintenance, and related financial budgeting while consulting with (Executive members) to ensure goals and objectives are achieved in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. This role will oversee sales and marketing efforts to ensure company goals being met.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Manage and implement direction set by Executive members
- Plan, organize financial short term and long-term goals and budgets.
- Plan and organize daily activities related to production, maintenance and operations.
- Coordinate with President/ Creative Director, designers and shop foreperson to ensure successful production operations.
- Manage, while coordinating with woodworker and design staff to maintain production schedule to meet financial and customer expectations.
- Manage and oversee shipping and receiving functions, while coordinating with woodworker and design staff.
- Determine labor needs to meet production, and operational goals.
- Prepare budget for operations and manage purchasing and inventory control.
- Manage purchasing and all vendors
- Manage and control all insurance policies and agreements.
- Manage all facilities projects large and small as well as manage all contractors.
- Assist with, or prepare and update, organization’s operations manual and policies.
- Maintain OSHA safety requirement, business and employee law practices.
- Liaison between President/ Creative Director and staff in all company policies and assignments.
- Enforce adherence to legal guidelines and company standards to maintain company ethics.
- Duties and responsibilities may be added or changed and will be discussed.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent managerial and supervisory skills.
- Extensive knowledge of operations and production management.
- Ability to interpret financial data as needed to set production goals.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
- Good knowledge of management of computer networks, security and back-up systems, and some knowledge of hardware and software systems.
Education and Experience:
- Five years of related experience required.
- Woodworking and production knowledge.
- Certification through the Institute of Certified Professional Managers (ICPM) preferred.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Participate in formulating and administering company policies set forth by Executive members.
- Direct and coordinate all company activities defined by Executive members.
- Human resources, production, maintenance and related financial budgeting to ensure company requirements are sufficiently met.
- Hire, train and conduct performance evaluations that are timely and constructive, coordinating with Executive members as necessary.
- Handle discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy, and while consulting with President/ Creative Director)Reports to: President/ Executive members
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to access and navigate the production facility.
