MAINTENANCE AND RELIABILITY MANAGER
Job Summary:
The Maintenance & Reliability Manager is responsible for leading all aspects of plant maintenance and reliability. This includes ensuring safe work practices, enlisting reliability PM/PdM best practices, and repair/replacement of plant equipment and systems to affect maximum production quantity and quality.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Leads the M&R Department to promote a continuous learning, plant safety improvement culture, and to achieve plant safety goals while targeting Zero Injuries.
· Member of Plant Leadership Team.
· Supervises plant maintenance personnel including a planner/scheduler, inventory coordinator, electromechanical personnel, & site engineers.
· Orchestrates & executes reliability program to mitigate unplanned maintenance and unplanned production outages.
· Leads and supports a coordinated alignment with supply chain & operations to best meet customer needs.
· Plan, coordinate, and prioritize maintenance requirements in conjunction with operations departments to obtain minimum cost and high reliability.
· Ensures that maintenance employees are adequately trained, equipped, and motivated so that all procedures are accomplished in a safe, timely, and cost-effective manner.
· Communicates regularly with all maintenance employees, both individually and as a group, to ensure open dialogue and the seamless exchange of relevant information.
· Conducts employee performance reviews based on job descriptions to determine competency, knowledge, and contribution of each direct report.
· Responsible for maintaining and updating operating, service, and training manuals for the maintenance department and supports employee skill development.
· Maintains a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) for tracking work orders, spare parts, and maintenance history of plant equipment.
· Maintains equipment history, repair records, repair frequency and resource library.
· Monitors the use and inventories of spare parts, maintenance supplies and equipment to mitigate efficiency loss through unplanned downtime occurrences.
· Leads the facilitation of formal problem-solving activities supporting continuous improvement in Safety, Reliability & Quality performance.
· Prepares reports, analyzes data, and makes recommendations for improving plant operational efficiency through implementation of solutions to mitigate or eliminate maintenance-related issues.
· Sustains an effective reliability maintenance program utilizing best practices and concepts aligned with CMRP certification.
· Manages direct and indirect spending for maintenance labor & repairs, ensuring they are in line with the fiscal plan.
· Navigates maintenance spend and implements cost control measures to offset negative or unplanned variances to budget.
· Ensures city, county, state, and federal regulations relating to the plant site are being met at all times. Coordinates with other departments to ensure alignment when working with government agencies.
Minimum Requirements / Knowledge / Skill:
· Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field (BSME is preferred).
· Experienced in administrating a reliability centered maintenance strategy utilizing world class methods and practices. Familiar with reliability prediction and prevention tools.
· 3+ years of manufacturing maintenance experience in roofing or similar continuous process manufacturing operations.
· 5+ years of supervisory leadership experience.
· Ability to collaborate across manufacturing departments to best support plant metrics.
· Financial acumen to optimize overall plant performance metrics at minimum cost.
· Experience with repair and maintenance of process equipment.
· Ability to conduct assessments, audits, and evaluations to measure progress.
· Leadership skills to manage diverse groups of people with varying levels of education, expertise, and skill-sets.
· Ensures that maintenance employees are adequately trained, equipped, and motivated to complete procedures in a safe, timely, efficient, and cost-effective manner.
