Position Overview:
The Business Development Officer will be responsible for identifying and cultivating new business opportunities within the middle market and C&I space across Southern California. This role requires a strategic thinker with a strong network, exceptional interpersonal skills, and a keen understanding of the lending landscape.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute a business development strategy to identify and secure new lending opportunities in high-risk industries, with a focus on cannabis.
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including business owners, industry leaders, and referral partners.
- Conduct market research to identify emerging trends and opportunities in the middle market lending sector.
- Collaborate with credit and underwriting teams to structure deals that meet both client needs and risk management standards.
- Represent the bank at industry events, networking functions, and community engagements to enhance brand visibility.
- Provide market insights and competitive analysis to inform product development and strategic initiatives.
- Achieve individual and team sales targets while contributing to the overall growth of the bank's lending portfolio.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field; MBA preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in business development or lending, with a strong emphasis on middle market or commercial lending.
- Proven track record of success in generating new business and meeting sales targets, particularly in high-risk industries.
- Strong understanding of the regulatory landscape surrounding cannabis and other high-risk sectors.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Established network within the Southern California business community.
