We are doing some exciting things with an aerospace and defense manufacturer in Westfield, IN who has asked us to help find a Firmware Engineer. The company manufactures unmanned aerial systems for the military. As the Firmware Engineer, you will be responsible for developing, executing, and writing/testing firmware. You will work closely with other disciplines in a team environment that includes electrical, software, and mechanical experts, all working towards the company’s success.

Must be able to obtain DOD Security Clearance and meet ITAR compliance standards
Your Primary Responsibilities As The Firmware Engineer
- Writing, debugging, and testing firmware
- Participating in software, electronics, and systems design reviews for identification of metrics, system risk, and reliability analysis
- Bench and system debugging/testing
- Supporting production activities through QC testing and establishing final assembly processes
- Maintaining standards compliance
- Collaborating with Engineers on electronics & low-level system interaction
- Sourcing & evaluating components as part of design
- Performing multidisciplinary tasks to meet design/delivery requirements & timelines
Required Skills You Will Have As The Firmware Engineer
- BS or greater in Electrical or Computer Engineering
- Minimum 4 years of experience in Embedded C development with electromechanical systems
- Broad experience with various serial communication architectures and protocols (SPI, I2C, RS232, CAN)
- Ability to debug at the hardware level
- Demonstrated ability to write embedded firmware, test plans, and unit tests
- Experience using standard electrical test equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters)
- Experience designing State Machines
- History of writing firmware without an RTOS
- Full product lifecycle experience
