The Impact You'll Have:
Alliant Engineering has an opening for a Survey Field Services Assistant. The qualified applicant will understand field surveying techniques to aid in the generation of construction staking data in support of field personnel. This position would assist in scheduling staff, managing project information and client contacts and will prepare search coordinates and generate staking data for a variety of transportation, utility, and residential home building services projects.
Responsibilities:
- Support our Survey department through tracking and processing orders, assisting with scheduling field personnel and communicating with field staff and contractors.
- Generate points for layout data in support of field crews.
- Assist in the preparing lot certificates, grading as-builts, foundation as-builts, and computing earthwork calculations related to home building services.
- Support in the preparation of typical surveying deliverables such as boundary surveys, existing conditions surveys, subdivision plats, common interest community plats, registered land surveys and survey exhibits.
- Respond to requests for data and exhibits by internal and external clients.
- Support designs and perform calculations for surveying and mapping projects using AutoCAD Civil 3D and Trimble Business Center.
- Subject to the need, this position may provide support to field technicians on project sites during periods of high surveying fieldwork demand.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Secondary education from a two-year technical school in survey technology or equivalent survey field training and experience required.
- Familiarity with reading surveying documents, engineering plans, and conducting relevant computations to determine grades and earthwork volumes required.
- Experience or familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D required.
- Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and Bluebeam preferred.
- Experience with Trimble Business Center and GPS data processing a plus.
- Self-motivated with ability to work in a fast-paced environment alone or as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail.
