Controller - Automotive

Our client is an auto industry leader with a consistent history of profitability and growth, a cohesive team culture providing an experienced automotive Controller with the ability to build a team and make a real impact! The Controller will be the financial business partner to general management, will lead accounting and finance staff, own the P&L for a large dealership and provide actionable financial data along with detailed business results analysis, and provide strategic, solutions-based guidance. In addition, the Controller will manage all accounting operations, coordinate the monthly close with multiple departments, develop forecasts, manage all treasury/cash management, report financial results, manage insurance coverage, implement internal controls, best practices and process excellence.
Key Challenges
- Develop relationships as an initiative-taking, trusted financial business partner to executive leadership providing professional guidance and identifying and communicating business, financial and industry trends.
- Manage and develop a small team providing leadership and guidance.
- Assume full oversight of all accounting functions coordinating with multiple departments and team members.

Skills & Educational Requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting and at least 10 years of experience that combines, management, accounting, financial reporting, budgeting & forecasting, and detailed analysis.
- Prior auto dealership experience is a must.
- Experience partnering with executive management as a trusted financial business partner providing guidance and driving results.
- Experience with CDK or related dealership software required along with advanced Excel skills.
- A CPA or MBA is preferred.
- Confidence, effective communication skills and the ability to present to senior business leaders and be persuasive.
- Leadership and experience managing junior staff members.
