Job Title: Electrical Design Engineer

The Electrical Design Engineer is responsible for supporting development from concept to release of new products, especially for the utility scale solar fields. Development cycles for the products are short, so there will be variety in the assignments. As an electrical engineer, the person in this position will have the opportunity to hone their design and test skills.
Responsibilities:
* Direct interaction with customers and suppliers for the purpose of defining or translating into product requirements
* Producing engineering documentation packages like schematics, BOMs, service pages (wire lists), and test specifications.
* Lead the design, development, testing, and listing of new or derivative products
* Perform engineering analysis on designs (FEA, thermal, etc.)
* Develop and manage product requirements for new and derivative products in response to market requirements
* Support defining plans, schedules, and budgets for product development activities
* Cross-functional teamwork of small teams taking products from concept to launch
* Analyzing and solving technical problems and providing repeatable, supportable solutions that can be implemented in a timely manner
* Providing technical support for Sales and Marketing for pre and post sales activities
* Analyzing field failures and identifying corrective and preventative solutions
Qualifications/Requirements:
* BS required, EE preferred (or equivalent)
* Experience with utility scale solar fields desired
* Experience with DFM principles and electrical and thermal testing highly preferred
* Experience with electro-mechanical systems designs and electrical enclosures is highly preferred
* Familiarity with NEC and IEC design rules. Knowledge of UL 1741, UL508A and CSA22.2 a plus
* 3+ years' experience in design of AC & DC power distribution systems desired, including familiarity with >1KV DC power
* Highly analytical mindset with strong problem-solving and critical analysis skills
* Must be a self-starter - a highly motivated person able to work in a fast-paced environment that is continually changing
