Hussey Gay Bell is accepting applications for a Transportation Engineer to join its Duluth location. Candidates must have 2-10 years of transportation systems design and construction administration experience. A strong technical background with comparable leadership, communications and business development skills is a fundamental requirement. Successful candidate will design and manage certain aspects of transportation projects for state and local governments, including the development of construction plans, cost estimates, bid documents, various calculations, and quantity takeoffs.
Role Overview:

Core Position Responsibilities:
- Assisting in the design and creation of construction documents on a wide variety of transportation projects.
- Different roadway design components including typical sections, earthwork, geometric layouts, drainage and hydraulic analysis, erosion control plans, signing and marking plan, safety features and maintenance of traffic plans.
- Assignments will also involve tasks associated with producing a set of construction documents including design, drafting, quantity computations, specifications, and cost estimates.
- Work on roadway design components including typical sections, earthwork, geometric layouts, drainage and hydraulic analysis, erosion control plans, signing and marking plan, safety features and maintenance of traffic plans.
Minimum Requirements:
- BS in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited institution
- A minimum of 2 years of professional work experience with an emphasis in highway/ transportation design projects, including complete preparation of ROW and final construction plans; experience with GDOT and SCDOT preferred.
- Knowledge and experience in use of roadway design programs, Open Roads, MicroStation V8i and GEOPAK Road and Drainage.
- Familiarity with AASHTO, and MUTCD publications, specifications and standards, and GDOT/SCDOT design standards.
Preferred Skills:
- Assisting in the design and creation of construction documents on a wide variety of transportation projects.
- Licensed Professional Engineer in GA
- Effective planning, scheduling and organizational skills.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
