Are you a manufacturing engineer with experience of space flight vehicles, payloads, satellites, ground support equipment or test fixtures?
Do you have a demonstrable history of solving technical challenges by rapidly developing prototype manufacturing solutions and quickly refining these solutions into a scalable and reusable manufacturing solution.
If so, the role I am hiring for will give you the opportunity to expend your experience across the following areas.
- Developing, qualifying, and refining manufacturing processes to meet all design and business requirements including safety, quality, efficiency and delivery
- Creating and managing manufacturing BOMs, work instructions, and specifications
- Collaborating with design engineers to evaluate designs for manufacturability and subject matter experts, and technicians to implement them in a rapidly evolving production environment
- Developing and design novel tooling and fixture solutions for fabrication and assembly
- Working with suppliers for initial sourcing work, solve ongoing production issues, and implement quality procedures.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
- 5 years work experience within Space, Aerospace, Defense or other similar high technology environment.
- The ability to read and decipher blueprints, drawings, procedures, and GD&T
- Knowledge of metallic manufacturing techniques, processes, and equipment related to welding, metal forming, fastening, drilling, bonding and automation
- Strong process management, process improvement, problem solving and cost reduction skills
- Experience interfacing with engineering and manufacturing groups to understand process constraints and provide design inputs for improved manufacturability.
- Demonstrable knowledge and experience in creation of Manufacturing Planning for product realization.
- Knowledge in design of jigs and tooling used for assembly of the final product.
- CAD experience across one of CATIA, CrREO, NX or SolidWorks for fixture, tooling design, analysis and documentation.
- GD&T knowledge covering ASME Y14.5M.
Preferred Skills & Experience
- MLI manufacturing processes and assembly techniques.
- Experience working with paints, coatings, and adhesives in an aerospace / space context.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to perform root cause analysis.
- Experience transition complex products from R&D to high-volume manufacturing in a fast-paced environment
The role will offer
- Salary between $120,000 - $170,000 depending on experience
