Vaco is hiring a Lean Continuous Improvement Engineer in the Fort Lauderdale area. This is an on-site role.
Purpose:
Leverage industrial engineering methodologies to design and implement efficient systems that integrate workers, machines, materials, information, and energy. The goal is to eliminate waste throughout the production process while ensuring adherence to quality and safety standards across all manufacturing areas.
Key Responsibilities:- Process Improvement Leadership:
- Lead and participate in initiatives focused on cost reduction and process optimization, utilizing Lean methodologies and tools.
- Statistical Analysis & Reporting:
- Conduct statistical analysis to evaluate the efficiency of existing processes, procedures, equipment, and workforce performance.
- Production Flow Design:
- Develop and implement effective production flow layouts, including:
- Physical cell/machine arrangement
- Material presentation and flow
- In-process quality assurance (e.g., poka-yoke)
- Continuous Improvement:
- Stay updated on emerging industry practices and integrate continuous improvement strategies across manufacturing processes.
- Work Measurement & Data Analysis:
- Establish and maintain work measurement programs, collecting and analyzing data to improve efficiency.
- Innovation & Implementation:
- Research, evaluate, and implement innovative ideas, materials, methods, and processes for both new and existing products.
- Labor Standards Development:
- Develop and implement direct labor standards for accurate costing and staffing.
- Performance Metrics:
- Create and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) to track and improve production efficiency.
- Production Control Systems:
- Design control systems to coordinate production planning activities, ensuring compliance with quality, delivery, and safety standards.
- Quality Assurance Integration:
- Collaborate with Quality Assurance to integrate quality control procedures, resolving production issues while minimizing costs.
- System Interaction Analysis:
- Utilize knowledge of system interactions to predict and manage the impact of operational changes on overall outcomes.
Qualifications:- Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in industrial engineering.
- Certifications:
- Lean Six Sigma Certification (Green Belt required; Black Belt preferred).
- Lean Manufacturing Expertise:
- Strong knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles, with hands-on experience in implementation.
- Communication Skills:
- Ability to effectively communicate and demonstrate Lean concepts at all organizational levels.
- Technical Skills:
- Experience with manufacturing techniques such as sheet metal fabrication, machining, and light assembly.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
- Additional Qualifications:
- Experience with safety-related products is advantageous.
- Willingness to occasionally travel internationally to visit customers and suppliers.
- Work Environment:
- Regular exposure to production elements, including noise, moving machinery, dust, and fumes.
