Job Title: Waste Management Technician*
Job Summary:
As a Waste Management Technician, you will be responsible for customer-site work involving the management of hazardous waste. Your role will require a thorough understanding of and ability to apply federal regulations, including RCRA (Resource Conservation & Recovery Act of 1976), DOT, and EPA regulations that pertain to the packing, transportation, and disposal of hazardous materials.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure safe work practices with a focus on achieving zero incidents or accidents.
- Understand and comply with all rules and regulations specific to the customer site, as well as company policies and guidelines.
- Prepare and confirm the accuracy of all paperwork related to the shipping of hazardous waste.
- Arrange for the pickup and transport of customer waste, including loading and unloading company trucks and common carriers using forklifts and other necessary equipment.
- Prepare hazardous waste for shipment and coordinate its transport to off-site recycling/disposal facilities.
Specialized Knowledge & Skills:
- Ability to classify waste in accordance with RCRA, EPA, and DOT regulations.
- Capability to learn and apply proper methods for handling hazardous materials and wastes.
- Strong customer service skills.
Physical Demands & Environmental Conditions:
- Physical capacity to tilt back or break approximately 800 lb. drums onto a dolly.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Must pass company physical and drug screening tests.
- Participation in the company medical surveillance program is required, including certification to wear a respirator.
- Daily exposure to fumes, dirt, noise, and hazardous chemicals, with potential requirements for safety equipment and precautions.
Qualifications:
- Must possess Hazwoper, RCRA, and DOT certifications.
