Objectives (Description of Responsibilities)
The responsibility of the Plant Operations Manager position directs and manages all plant operations with overall responsibilities of production and production-related activities. The position supervises a team of Department Managers and off-shift Superintendents and will report to the President / Managing Director.
Sole Responsibility / Assignments to be completed by the position:
•Direct and manage plant operations for molding, paint, and assembly departments.
•Coordinate plant activities through planning with departmental managers to ensure the total manufacturing objectives are accomplished in a timely manner.
•Develop and control profits, plans, and budgets.
•Implement cost-effective systems of control over capital, operating expenditures, manpower, wages, and salaries.
•Manages capital asset management.
•Establish and monitor overall plant performance for production and quality standards.
•Control and minimize labor overtime, premium freight, and repair expenses.
•Maintain existing plant facilities and equipment; replace or make adjustments to plant facilities and equipment when necessary.
•Provide leadership and training to accomplish the company goals and objectives.
•Incorporates shop floor organization and plant cleanliness among plant personnel.
•Provides direction, development, and leadership to department managers and superintendents.
•Ensures compliance with customer-specific requirements.
•Brings together staff of different disciplines and drives the group to plan, formulate and agree on comprehensive manufacturing procedures.
•Maintains and improves product quality by completing product, company, system, compliance, and surveillance audits.
•Facilitates analysis and coordinates activities related to process/system improvement projects. Continuous improvement activity
•Communicates with other managers to coordinate operations and activities.
•Determines staffing requirements to meet demand and delivery expectations.
•Maintains operations data and prepares reports for management.
•Monitors indicators related to ensuring employees conform to production or processing standards.
•Facilitates preparation and delivery of effective performance reviews.
•Communicates with employees and/or management to address employee suggestions or problems.
•Generates requisitions for materials, supplies, equipment parts, or repair services based on planned needs.
•Schedule Customer visits on frequent basis
Other Main Duties:
•May be required to travel.
•May be asked on occasion to perform other duties at a lower level or higher level of proficiency or not related to this classification.
•Responsible for the cleanliness of the work area
•Behave in a positive manner that enhances the success of the company.
•Backup for President in the event of their absence
•Other duties as assigned by President.
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree
Proven working experience as a Plant Operations Manager in the Automotive Industry.
Experience with German automotive manufacturers such as BMW is desirable.
Proficient in standard logistics software.
Excellent organizational skills.
Ability to work on multiple projects.
Must be productive in a team environment.
Proficiency in Excel, and Microsoft programs.
Available for occasional travel including International.
