Position Overview
The Safety and Quality Specialist Is responsible to provide safety, quality, and technical data to support the Safety team and the businesses. Collects, manages and analyzes trends of company-wide safety and quality incidents, audits, root causes and corrective actions. Assists in incident investigations and process improvements to reduce safety or quality risks. Manages company software platform (Salus) for all incidents, safety training events, programs and reference materials, and develops new applications and forms. With knowledge of safety and occupational health requirements, assists in preparation, communication and presentations of company safety programs and procedures, SOPs, and training events.
Primary Responsibilities
· Lead role in trend analysis of safety and quality incidents trends, and associated root causes.
· Maintains, updates and audits company safety injury and quality incident and training databases.
· Serves as company point of contact and administrator for Salus platform.
· Responsible for maintenance and accuracy of company injury/illness logs for OSHA, CALOSHA, MSHA
· Prepares monthly regional, company presentations and dashboards of safety and quality information.
· Tracks leading and lagging S&Q metrics, including maturity path results and progress.
· Tracks S&Q-related training needs, status through Salus system, and coordinates with HR LMS.
· Coordinates safety, quality and leadership training, materials, and sessions
· Assists in preparation and participates in leadership and safety training.
· Visit work sites and branches, as needed for training and information validation.
· Maintains, updates, and distributes safety and quality policies, procedures, and documentation; provides this information to company personnel or external sources as requested.
· Serves as company safety point of contact for external customer databases (ISNET, Common Ground Alliance); and provides safety responses for customer prequals.
· Maintains confidentiality related to environmental, safety, and quality issues.
· Provides administrative support for corporate Safety and Quality Director and department members.
Qualifications
· Working knowledge of safety and occupational health compliance requirements and injury prevention methods
· Data analysis, displays, process evaluations and root cause determinations and methods.
· Demonstrate flexibility to effectively deal with changing priorities and timelines through problem solving and identifying priorities.
· Excellent motivation and communication skills, with ability to inspire and influence actions at leadership and worker levels.
· Proven time management and follow-through skills with the ability to work on multiple tasks with tight deadlines and a “sense of urgency”.
· Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team-oriented environment.
· Desire to learn, research answers and seek input from team members and others.

· Speaking and reading multiple language a plus, especially Spanish
· Valid CA Driver’s License with safe driving record
Experience and Education:
· Minimum 5 year’s experience in safety and health programs , training and data analysis.
· Experience in construction, construction materials or related field work a plus
· Associate degree, preferably in safety, engineering, construction management, occupational health, or related field a plus.
· At least one advanced certification in Safety is required: CALOSHA 10, 30.
· Demonstrated working knowledge of OSHA, CALOSHA, MSHA and other state and federal safety regulatory requirements.
· First aid and CPR Certified
· Six sigma and PBI knowledge a plus
· Proficient in MS Office suite

· Capable of conducting multiple-day training sessions, and field and plant visits.
