Summary:
The Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for day-to-day maintenance activities conducted at a utility scale solar thermal power plant. This person provides first-line supervision for assigned maintenance personnel covering multiple crafts who provide 24-hour, 7-day-per-week coverage. Incumbents work a standard business week (Monday through Friday) and extended periods as required. Ensure that all work is completed in a safe manner – the safety of our employees and stakeholders is valued above everything else.
CANDIDATES MUST HAVE POWER PLANT/POWER GENERATION FACILITY EXPERIENCE.
THIS FACILITY IS LOCATED IN GILA BEND. CANDIDATES MUST BE WILLING TO COMMUTE.
Responsibilities:
- Assures the consistent application of, and compliance with, company policies, administrative, maintenance and safety procedures, related accepted practices, and standing orders.
- Determines or recommends actions or work techniques to achieve plant equipment repair or maintenance, or to improve the quality or cost effectiveness of such repairs or maintenance.
- Determines or recommends types of materials, supplies, equipment or tools to affect repairs, maintain, or improve the quality or cost-effectiveness of or on plant equipment.
- Develops and assures the accuracy of work order activity reports and other required reporting.
- Coordinates or arranges the delivery of materials, supplies, equipment, tools, or subcontract services necessary to support ongoing maintenance work.
- Distributes work to and assures the productivity of assigned personnel.
- Works with long term planning in the design of work plans for major projects and outages.
- Oversees the performance of major mechanical projects at the site, including outages.
- Sets shift and coverage schedules of assigned personnel.
- Maintains employee contact sheets and evaluates the work performance of assigned personnel. Other Duties and Responsibilities:
- Implements and maintains "on-shift" training and recommends advancement, promotion or other changes of status of assigned personnel.
- Initiates and carries out disciplinary actions as necessary for assigned personnel. • Interviews and recommends the selection of potential candidates for filling open assigned Maintenance positions.
- Assists with emergency maintenance work as necessary.
- Assures that assigned maintenance shop and other work areas are kept clean, orderly, and organized.
- Assures that assigned tools, equipment, and vehicles are clean, organized, and in good working order.
Prerequisites:
- High School education or equivalent.
- Familiarity with cycling power plant or industrial process operations.
- Proven leadership abilities, including effective oral and written communication skills.
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience as a craftsman in an industrial environment, preferably a power generation facility.
- A minimum of 1-year experience in a supervisory capacity in a power plant or industrial environment.
- Must possess and maintain a current Arizona driver's license.
Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgement.
- Ability to carry out detailed instructions with limited supervision.
- Good organizational skills.
- Past experience using a CMMS, preferably SAP.
- An excellent working knowledge of power plant mechanical equipment and a basic understanding of instrumentation and controls.
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations.
- Ability to use logical and divergent reasoning to solve problems.
- Ability to read, interpret and retrieve information from engineering drawings and technical manuals.
- Ability to work safely and effectively with others.
- Ability to train Maintenance personnel.
- Intermediate computer skills (MS Office) – Excel proficiency is required
