Kjeldsen Sinnock & Neudeck Inc. (KSN) is seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Civil Engineer to join our team to help us fulfil our mission to be the trusted firm for delivering the right solutions for our clients’ water and wastewater needs. The successful candidate will be eligible for signing bonus of between $5,000 and $10,000 depending on experience and education.

KSN’s work focuses on public-sector projects throughout the state, with an emphasis on the Sacramento and San Joaquin valleys, foothills, and east bay areas. KSN’s services are focused on assisting sanitary districts, water districts, cities, county departments, irrigation districts, and state and federal entities in their replacement or rehabilitation of aging water supply, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure. As a Senior Civil/Environmental Engineer focusing on water/wastewater treatment, water quality, and process, you will have an opportunity to support development of regionally important and exciting municipal water, wastewater, and stormwater projects. As a Senior Water/Wastewater Engineer, you will hold a key position in the tight-knit, collaborative, and growing water/wastewater utility group within KSN. This position has significant opportunity for advancement. Compensation and benefits are very competitive and exceed industry averages in profit sharing contributions and annual bonus. The Senior Engineer would work with the firm’s utility group out of our West Sacramento office.
Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, design, and permitting, of new and/or rehabilitated facilities including groundwater treatment, surface water treatment, wastewater treatment and recycled water production, treated water discharge and recycled use.
- Assist with the oversight and management of the firm’s water/wastewater engineering services;
- Manage project teams to efficiently complete the scope of services for our clients;
- Assist with the preparation of proposals for engineering services;
- Communicate effectively with client, project team, subconsultants, and regulatory agencies, including but not limited to, attending meetings, and providing ongoing written and verbal communication to successfully deliver engineering services;
- Provide responsible charge duties, including signing and sealing documents related to the delivery of engineering services; an
- Mentoring and managing the development of staff who are interested in professional development within the water/wastewater profession.
Skills and Experience
- Broad knowledge of water/wastewater design processes and technologies including permitting with the California Regional Water Quality Control Board and the Division of Drinking Water of the State Water Resources Control Board.
- Self-motivated, technically competent, client- and solution-focused individual.
- Able to be self-directing and self-starting.
- Possesses advanced oral and written communication skills, including interpretation of complex technical and regulatory language and preparation of technical reports and documents addressing complex regulatory subjects.
- Aptitude and hands-on experience with computer applications used in Water/Wastewater Engineering, such as WaterCAD or similar modeling software, treatment process calculations and modeling, and Microsoft Office suite, etc.
- Experience developing and providing quality assurance reviews for construction plans, specifications, construction cost estimates, and technical reports and studies.
- Demonstrated ability to make and communicate sound decisions regarding complex issues.
- Demonstrated ability to gather, organize and analyze engineering data, and make comprehensive reports.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and manage multiple projects simultaneously. •
- Strong business development and strategic planning skills.
- BS Engineering Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field, with MS or higher degree preferred
- 5 or more years experience as a PE with increasing levels of responsibility / responsible charge.
- 8-plus years of experience required; including progressively responsible for project management

Compensation
Compensation package commensurate with experience, education, skill level, and other compensable factors.
Salary Range is $115,000-$150,000 per year.
The position of Senior Civil Engineer is an exempt position.
