Senior Lab Chemist Opportunity - Environmental Consulting
Location: Edison, NJ (Remote Work with Travel Nationwide)

As a Senior Lab Chemist, you will have the opportunity to work with a top-tier environmental consulting firm that provides critical 24/7/365 scientific and engineering support to the EPA Emergency Response Team (ERT). This role involves conducting environmental analyses on air, soil, and oil organic matter to support national emergency response efforts, including hazardous materials spills, air contamination, and other environmental incidents.

Responsibilities:
- Data Analysis: Interpret mass spectral data using libraries to elucidate chemical structures, supporting critical environmental decisions.
- Laboratory Operations: Perform routine operation, maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of lab instruments such as GC with FID, PID, and MS detectors.
- Sample Preparation: Use advanced techniques, including liquid-liquid extraction and solid phase extraction, to prepare various environmental samples.
- Project Coordination: Manage subcontracted laboratory services for emergency response projects, ensuring timely and accurate analyses.
- Emergency Response: Be available to travel up to 25% nationwide for emergency response situations.
Qualifications:
- Education: B.S. or B.A. in Chemistry or closely related scientific discipline.
- Experience: 8-10 years in an environmental laboratory, particularly with Toxic Organic (TO) air methods and/or SW-846 methods for soil, water, and oil organic analyses.
- Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of chromatography and mass spectrometry theory, and experience using Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
- Certification: Must possess or be able to obtain a current Medical Certification.
- Adaptability: Comfortable working in both stationary and mobile lab environments.
