Overview:
We're searching for relay testing technicians, transformer specialists, substation technicians and also NETA certified technicians on projects in Texas, Alabama and Kansas.

We are looking for a skilled Transformer Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, testing, and repair of transformers in electrical substations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Installation: Assist in the installation and commissioning of new transformers and related equipment in substations.
- Maintenance: Perform regular maintenance and inspections of transformers, including checking oil levels, monitoring temperature, and ensuring proper functioning of cooling systems.
- Testing: Conduct electrical tests on transformers, such as insulation resistance testing, power factor testing, and transformer turns ratio (TTR) testing, to verify performance and reliability.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve issues related to transformer performance, including electrical and mechanical problems.
- Repair: Execute repairs on defective transformers, including replacing components such as bushings, circuit breakers, and cooling fans.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, testing results, and repairs. Prepare reports for management and regulatory compliance.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and your team.
- Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, operations staff, and other technicians to ensure the smooth operation of transformer systems within substations.
Qualifications:
- Education: Associate's degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or a related field; relevant certifications are advantageous.
- Experience: 3+ years of experience in transformer maintenance and repair in a substation or power systems environment.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in the use of testing equipment and tools specific to transformers; solid understanding of electrical principles and transformer operations.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and document findings.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to work in outdoor environments and perform physical tasks such as lifting, climbing, and working in confined spaces.
