MKCI is a comprehensive defense litigation firm with a proven track record of successfully defending clients in high-stakes cases across various general liability and product liability/toxic tort matters. Although our attorneys are skilled in handling diverse legal matters, our expertise lies in litigating and trying complex cases related to product liability (including asbestos and talc claims), premises liability, transportation, public entities, construction defect, labor law, insurance coverage, and environmental issues.
MKCI is seeking a motivated and detailed oriented attorney to join our dynamic team in our Hartford, Connecticut office. The ideal candidate will have at least 2-5 years of experience in civil defense litigation and possess strong analytical, research, and writing skills. The successful candidate will work closely with other MKCI attorneys and staff to provide high-quality legal representation to our clients. Responsibilities:
- Draft legal documents including pleadings, motions, and discovery requests and responses.
- Represent clients in court hearings, depositions, mediations, and trials.
- Participate in case preparation and strategy development, and advise clients concerning claim liability, advisability of defending lawsuits, and legal rights and obligations.
- Communicate with clients, witnesses, other parties, and opposing counsel.
- Conduct legal research and analysis on various legal matters.
- Stay current with changes in laws and regulations relevant to our practice areas.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Admitted to practice in the State of Connecticut.
- Admitted to practice in Massachusetts and/or Rhode Island a plus.
- 2-5 years of experience in civil legal defense, preferably in general liability and/or products liability.
- Superior analytical skills.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work independently or as part of a team.
- High level of professionalism and ethical standards.
