About Us:
We are a stealth-mode startup in the edtech space, aiming to transform education with cutting-edge AI. Backed by $2M in recent funding, we are led by two seasoned founders with decades of experience and multiple successful exits. This is an opportunity to join at the ground level and shape the product from the start. We care deeply about building systems that are both beautiful and functional.
About You:
We’re looking for an experienced front-end developer who thrives in a fast-paced environment with a small team. You will be employee #3, which means you’ll get significant equity and a lot of autonomy to create. You understand how to get things done in a scrappy, but not crappy, manner and are able to develop great interactive front-ends yourself. You’ve been around long enough to not just build v1 of something, but v2 while keeping v1 running. You prefer to spend your time doing, not sitting in meetings talking about what to do.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development of our front-end architecture.
- Collaborate closely with the founding team to turn ideas into reality.
- Build high-quality, user-centric interfaces that are fast and scalable.
- Own the front-end experience from development through production.
- Handle most UI/UX design.
What We’re Looking For:
- Expert-level experience with JavaScript, ideally with frameworks like React or Vue.js.
- Proficiency in Python for any front-end/backend integration.
- Experience in building and shipping products, ideally in a startup environment.
- A passion for building well-designed, scalable systems that make users’ lives easier.
- Ability to work autonomously while being open to feedback and debate.
- A love for continuous learning and tackling new challenges.
- CS degree or equivalent (e.g. understands concepts like algorithmic complexity, distributed computing, etc.)
- Bonus: Experience with game design or gamified learning tools.
Why Join Us?
- Be part of something big from the very beginning. You’ll have a massive impact on the future of the company and product.
- Significant equity stake in the company.
- Competitive salary with plenty of growth opportunities.
- Freedom to design and build systems the way you believe they should be done, without unnecessary meetings or bureaucracy.
- Mostly WFH model: Expect to meet up once a week for a half-day in the greater Seattle area, with occasional longer strategy sessions.
If you’re someone who thrives in an environment where you have the freedom to build things the right way, where you can challenge and be challenged, and where you care deeply about both the code and the user experience, we’d love to hear from you.
