Overview:
ACS Professional Staffing is looking for an employee to work on-site with our client. This Nuclear Mechanical Planner position will plan and prepare mechanical work packages for large and small-scale projects to be performed by mechanical and contract maintenance organizations. The successful candidate will ensure that the plant projects are performed in a safe, reliable, and efficient manner, in compliance with company policies, procedures, and applicable codes and standards. This full-time position is located in Richland, WA.
Pay rate: $53.69 – $79.65

Responsibilities:
- Plan and prepare work instructions to guide mechanical and contract maintenance organizations in project implementation and modifications.
- Select and approve purchases or make procurement recommendations for all materials needed for work package execution.
- Conduct field walkdowns to identify and analyze maintenance, modification, and surveillance activities, providing input for refining work package quality.
- Interface and collaborate with Work Management, Supply, Operations, and Engineering to identify and resolve work package issues.
- Define necessary procedures, drawings, equipment, and materials for executing planned work packages.
- Facilitate package preparation by preparing and submitting various documentation, including Outage Requests (OOS), Radiological Work Permits (RWP), and other necessary permits and statements.
- Verify that work instructions comply with all applicable station procedures, including NSPs, NSWP, ASME Code, etc.
- Approve and review all required work packages to ensure safety, quality, technical rigor, and compliance with 10CFR50.59 screening or evaluation.
- Develop, revise, and review maintenance procedures to enhance work package development and ensure compliance with codes, standards, and vendor recommendations.
- Provide project management support to system planners or contractors in developing detailed elements of overall package preparation.
- Participate in work control and scheduling meetings, including planning feedback, craft interface discussions, contract requisition reviews, and troubleshooting sessions, to ensure alignment with station processes.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university and a minimum of 6 years of experience in a technical area (i.e. maintenance, engineering, operations, maintenance planning).
- OR An associate’s degree from an accredited college or university and 8 years of experience in a technical area (i.e. maintenance, engineering, operations, maintenance planning).
- OR A high school diploma or GED and technical training or education similar to that acquired through an in-grade apprenticeship program for maintenance related work and 6 years of experience in a technical area (i.e. maintenance, engineering, operations, maintenance planning).
- OR A high school diploma or GED and 10 years of experience in a technical area (i.e. maintenance, engineering, operations, maintenance planning). Educational experience from an accredited college or university will be considered year for year in exchange for work experience in a technical area.
- 2 years of experience in a nuclear environment is highly desired.
- Commercial nuclear experience required.
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
- Strong computer skills.
- Ability to troubleshoot and solve technical problems.
- Capability to obtain Planner I qualification.
- Nuclear power plant work management and planning processes.
- Safety regulations associated with a power plant environment.
- ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) requirements.
- Nuclear security operations, regulations, and requirements.
- Ability to manage time and prioritize work to enhance plant and equipment reliability.
- Commitment to meet both short- and long-term goals for internal and external customers.
- Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with customers.
- Keen understanding of the business, utilizing this skill in decision-making.
- Ability to set clear and challenging goals, using metrics for follow-up and measurement.
- Technical report writing and trending skills.
- Capacity to improve processes and create more effective methods of conducting business.
