We are looking for a Print Shop Supervisor/Manager to oversee the daily production operations of our direct mail facility. This hands-on role involves managing both the people and processes responsible for producing high-quality mail pieces on time. You’ll be responsible for training and supervising an efficient team, managing the day-to-day operations of our machines, and coordinating with vendors for critical supplies such as paper, inks, envelopes, and postage materials.
The ideal candidate will have the technical expertise to troubleshoot machinery, the organizational skills to manage supply levels and vendor relationships, and the leadership to ensure the team stays on task and maintains production standards. This position is crucial in maintaining smooth operations and ensuring campaigns are delivered on time to meet our clients’ needs.

Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee Daily Operations: Manage the daily production of direct mail pieces, ensuring high-quality output and efficient team performance.
- Quality Control: Ensure all finished products meet quality standards and are produced on schedule.
- Scheduling: Oversee and maintain production schedules to ensure timely completion of jobs.
- Process Improvement: Promote continuous technical improvements, optimize workflows, and reduce downtime while prioritizing safety and procedures.
- Purchasing: Manage purchase orders and coordinate with vendors for timely procurement of critical supplies (paper, inks, envelopes, and postage materials).
- Mailing Operations: Oversee mailing operations and provide guidance on scheduling and prioritizing mailing needs according to production goals.
- Communication: Provide regular updates to internal departments (e.g., Sales, Marketing) to ensure smooth workflow.
- Budgeting: Collaborate with ownership on budgeting and forecasting for production needs, including equipment maintenance and repairs.
- Employee Morale & Training: Foster a positive work environment, recruit and train new team members, and promote continuous learning.
- Safety: Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain a clean, safe workspace.
Required Qualifications:
- Direct Mail Expertise: Strong understanding of direct mail data processing and print/mail production is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years in print production or direct mail, with leadership experience preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in troubleshooting and operating various print machines.
- Leadership: Proven ability to lead teams effectively, delegate tasks, and adapt quickly to changing environments.
- Problem-Solving & Communication: Must be an excellent communicator with strong problem-solving skills, able to resolve issues promptly.
- Team-Oriented: Ability to work in a team environment, maintain an outgoing demeanor, and collaborate with others to accomplish tasks efficiently.
- Detail-Oriented: Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality and output standards.
- Organizational Skills: Strong time management and multitasking abilities to handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
- Vendor Management: Experience managing vendor relationships and coordinating supply orders.
- Software Skills: Familiarity with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, for tracking and reporting.
- Physical Requirement: Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs as part of day-to-day responsibilities.
