As a Senior Safety Professional, you will produce safety analysis and support for Disney Cruise Line (DCL)as part of an overall Performance Alignment (PA) project, which is a 12-month project. In this role, you will contribute leadership, oversight, feedback, and development with the assessment, implementation, and sustainment of crucial safety programs for the Disney Cruise Line islands and specific shipside activities. You will provide the required expert technical mentorship to ensure in-scope practices are aligned with applicable safety regulations, standards, and codes, and all documentation, training, assessment, and audit activities have been crafted and implemented for safety-critical processes. The individual in this role will be part of a team passionate about all facets of Performance Alignment for DCL for safety-critical processes.
This position will report to the Manager, DCL Performance Alignment Project.
This is a project hire with no guarantee of permanent placement with an estimated end date of 9/27/2025.
What You Will DoModel safe behaviors at all times, and encourage team members, peers, and partners to do the same.
Interpret and apply safety and health standards, manufacturer’s requirements, programs, rules, and policies as appropriate.
Participate in the project review process to identify and promote safety and health improvements in procedures and practices. Ensure the integration of sustainable and efficient safety processes and procedures to align with safety standards.
Assess safety performance of critical practices and procedures at DCL islands and specific shipside activities through examination, data review, incident history, and audits.
Observe and understand the DCL business, its culture, and opportunities.
Explore any challenges in producing "safe outcomes" for Guests and Crew. Understand internal processes that can be used to incorporate safety plans.
Partner with team members and DCL SMEs on the development, update, or modification of any associated safety documentation. Assist in the development and/or implementation of compliance-related processes and procedures, including, but not limited to, internal and external safety standards.
Partner with team members and DCL SMEs on the development and implementation of any training, assessment, and/or audit activities for safety-critical processes for DCL islands and specific shipside activities.
Review the Safety Management System.
Clearly communicate progress and provide regular updates to leader, Manager, DCL Performance Alignment.
Required Qualifications & Skills7+ years of safety/public health management experience required.
Knowledge of OSHA/regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
Participation in occasional 2nd and 3rd shift work or work off-site.
Proven ability to use analytics and identify trends.
Demonstrated flexibility and ability to operate within an ambiguous and changing environment.
Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
Demonstrated strong consultative and influencing skills.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to participate on a cross-functional team.
Preferred QualificationsCertified Safety Professional.
Experience in implementing or using the Performance Alignment model.
Previous experience with the cruise line industry.
Familiarity with maritime standards (IMO), CLIA standards.
Proficiency with Disney Cruise Line SMS.
EducationBachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, or Public Health is required.
Advanced degree in Occupational Safety or Public Health is preferred.
