The Facility Engineer ensures our buildings and grounds are clean and safe. He/She oversees all aspects of building functions and guarantees the safety and functionality of all facilities. The Facility Engineer runs routine safety inspections, plans maintenance work, maintains records, and supervises facilities staff. He/She is well-versed in facilities management processes and exhibits high multitasking and organizational abilities.
Job Responsibilities
- Safety. Ensure the safety of the facility and its occupants, including maintaining fire protection systems, emergency generators, and elevators
- Maintenance. Oversee the maintenance and repairs of the facility, including routine inspections and preventive maintenance
- Compliance. Ensure the facility complies with local, state, and federal regulations, including environmental and safety programs
- Budgeting. Manage the budget and staffing of facility operations
- Planning. Develop short- and long-term goals and work programs for the facility
- Contracts. Oversee contracts and providers for services like security, parking, cleaning, and IT
- Projects. Oversee building projects and renovations
- Energy conservation. Maintain an energy and water conservation program
- Key control. Establish a key control program and procedures for the security of all keys
- Service requests. Ensure service requests are submitted in accordance with established procedures
Job Qualifications
- 2+ years of facility or building management experience
- Bachelor degree in Building, Construction Manager, or similar is ideal
- Certified Facility Manager (CFM) credential, or equivalent, preferred
- EPA Section 608 Certification – Universal, Type 1, or Type 2 – is ideal
- Must possess advanced mechanical and plumbing skills
- Must have strong knowledge of HVAC, building systems, and equipment management
- Must possess excellent time management and multitasking skills
- Must understand accounting and finance principles
- Must have strong leadership and influencing ability with problem-solving skills
- Must have prior experience planning and maintaining facility budgets
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills with a strong attention to detail
- Ability to lift heavy objects and do other labor-intensive tasks
Compensation: Salary + Performance-Based Bonus, Comprehensive Benefits Package. Final compensation will be determined based on experience and skills and may vary from the range listed above.
