Position Overview:
The Director of Purchasing will lead and oversee the procurement of goods, service management, and capital equipment on a global scale. This role includes negotiating, reviewing, and managing contracts, ensuring effective production planning, inventory control, purchasing, receiving, warehousing, and product shipping. The Director of Purchasing will provide strategic leadership within a network of global suppliers, optimizing fulfillment, pricing, quality, and business processes to align with corporate and industry best practices.
Essential Responsibilities:
Contract Negotiation and Management
- Negotiates, reviews, and manages contracting for the procurement of goods, service management, and capital equipment worldwide.
- Ensure all contracts meet legal and regulatory requirements and align with company policies
Operations Management
- Manages all production planning, inventory control, purchasing, receiving, warehousing and product shipping.
- Develop and implement efficient processes to optimize operations and achieve strategic goals
- Develop and implement a data-management systems to provide feedback, metrics, and visibility regarding health & performance of the operations.
Strategic Leadership
- Provide strategic leadership within a network of global suppliers focused on optimizing fulfillment, pricing, quality and business process to align with corporate & industry best practices.
- Create and optimize purchasing strategies to align with corporate objectives; manage to defined budgets, forecasts, policies, service levels, and quality assurance targets.
- Determine current and future business needs and translate these into global requirements with clear controls, documented process flows, and best-in-class quality standards.
- Extensive experience in all aspects of vendor management, regarding price, product and delivery performance management.
- Develops and manages programs to optimize raw materials flow and inventory turns.
- Regarded as an industry expert pertaining to ERP skills and understanding.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience, or 5+ years with a degree and certification in related field.
- Deep understanding of ERP management systems; Oracle, SAP, Great Plains, Service Now preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills, Leadership qualities, project management, team building, managing remote teams.
- Demonstrated experience in supplier performance management practices and cost management.
- Proven experience conducting cost-benefit analysis, master service agreements and managing contract manufacturers.
- Demonstrated team and project leadership.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
