Job Purpose
The Continual Improvement Manager Trainee for this position should expect to learn all facets of manufacturing and will leave this position with invaluable skills and industry knowledge along with hands-on experience in utilizing lean and other continual improvement tools to improve manufacturing operations.
This is an entry level opportunity. Only looking for 1-3 years experience.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Improve productivity by performing the following continual improvement activities:
- Provides a hands-on leadership presence while also coaching and mentoring a continuous improvement mindset.
- Lead and follow up on 5S and associated kaizen events
- Visual management including trend graphs (safety, OTIF and productivity) for various departments
- Supervise and monitor work assignments, workflow, production flow, work standards, and productivity.
- Lead problem solving teams and implement new processes.
- Creation of SOP’s, Work Procedures, and other training material.
- Assist in all other related duties.
Qualifications
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Good administrative proficiency and customer service skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office word and excel
- Outstanding organizational skills and ability to multitask
- Bachelor’s Degree – in Industrial Engineering
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines within a fast-paced environment
- Lean/5S experience in a manufacturing/distribution setting
- Ability to lead, empower and develop personnel
Working conditions
- Job requires some extended hours, as needed, to accomplish job requirements.
- Job requires working in manufacturing or warehouse environment which includes high temperatures and humidity.
- Job requires working in and around machinery/powered equipment and associated safety risks.
- Job requires interaction with all levels within the location and all their direct reports (as needed).
- Job requires interaction with customers to resolve issues.
Physical requirements
Job sometimes requires lifting and sitting for long periods of time around a manufacturing and/or warehouse facility.
