Insight Global is looking for an AutoCAD Design Technician with proficiency in AutoCAD (or ArcGIS) to sit in Lakewood, CO with interest in the electric utilities (and telecommunications) engineering industry - prior industry preferred but not required - will be trained! This a 6 month contract-to-hire, meaning you will be converted full time (which includes PTO, Holiday Pay, etc.) after 6 months!
In this role, you will be responsible for reviewing field documents, engineering and designing poles for fiber optic cable attachments, and conducting pull loading analysis to ensure the structural integrity of the poles. Key Responsibilities Include:
- Reviewing Field Documents: • Examine and verify the accuracy and completeness of field documents submitted by field teams. • Identify discrepancies or missing information and collaborate with field teams to resolve issues. • Ensure timely submission and proper documentation of all field reports.
- Engineering and Designing Poles: • Design and engineer poles to support the attachment of fiber optic cables, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards. • Utilize engineering software and tools to create detailed design plans and specifications. • Assess environmental factors and load conditions to optimize pole design.
- Pull Loading Analysis: • Conduct pull loading analysis to evaluate the structural capacity of poles. • Analyze the impact of various load conditions and environmental factors on pole stability. • Provide recommendations for pole reinforcement or replacement based on analysis results. Collaboration and Communication: • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including field technicians, project managers, and regulatory bodies. • Communicate design plans, analysis results, and necessary modifications to relevant stakeholders. • Participate in project meetings and provide technical expertise to support project goals.
Minimum Requirements:
- Ability to work 40 hours a week, typical daytime hours in Lakewood, CO - NOT PART TIME OR REMOTE
- Valid Drivers License and reliable transportation to/from work (own vehicle preferred)
- Ability to successfully complete a criminal background check and a full drug test
- 1 year of professional, internship, or educational coursework experience related to CAD or GIS
- AutoCAD experience is preferred
- ArcGIS experience is preferred
- Having an open interest in learning about the power distribution, telecom & utilities design engineering industry - will be taught and trained on specifics!
- Katapult or O-Calc experience is a plus
- Prior engineering or design background, and/or joint use or utilities background is a plus
