System Engineer – Electrical Utility (Confidential Employer)
Location: Columbia County, Oregon (On-Site)
Salary Range: $92,000 - $166,400 annually, depending on qualifications and certifications.
Are you an experienced System Engineer with a background in electrical utilities? Join a dynamic and innovative team where you'll play a key role in managing critical infrastructure, including SCADA systems, substations, and transmission lines. This supervisory position will provide project management support, oversee a technical team, and ensure the safe, reliable operation of transmission and distribution systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise: Motivate and develop employees, holding them accountable for productivity, safety, and compliance with policies.
- Develop and operate secure SCADA systems: Troubleshoot and resolve anomalies, generate reports, and provide critical data to stakeholders.
- System planning and modeling: Conduct system modeling for new load connections, long-range planning, and N-1 contingency scenarios.
- Project management: Oversee the operation, maintenance, and construction of transmission, substation, and distribution system improvement projects.
- Technical design: Design and develop wiring diagrams, relay settings, and control systems for substations and electrical distribution.
- Maintenance program: Lead a reliability-based preventative maintenance program for equipment, ensuring optimal performance and safety.
- Collaborate with engineering teams: Work closely with line crews and external consultants to ensure accurate project implementation.
- Compliance: Ensure all operations adhere to national and local safety codes and regulations.
Qualifications:
- Required: Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering or 5+ years of advanced electrical utility experience.
- Leadership experience in a supervisory role, with strong team management skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and engineering software (distribution analysis, fuse coordination).
- Knowledge of National Electric Safety Code and experience with SCADA and system protection systems.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Preferred: Registered Professional Engineer.
- Required: Must reside locally or be willing to relocate.
