Hiring Range: $72,654.40 - $97,406.40
Starting salary may be adjusted depending on experience
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in geographic information systems (GIS), geography, planning, civil engineering, computer science, or a related field.
- Four (4) years or more of experience in geographic information systems (GIS)
- One (1) year or more of supervisory experience.
- Knowledge of GIS Software, operating systems, databases, and programming languages currently used by the City.
- Ability to read and use zoning maps, quarter-section maps, plat maps, land use maps, single line maps, aerial photography, blueprints, and engineering plans
- Experience with intranet and internet deployment of GIS.
- Possession of a valid state issued driver's license and the ability to obtain and maintain a City of Hoover Driver's permit

- Experience managing projects, business process analysis, and complex software applications including web-based applications
Responsibilities:
- Manages city-wide activities in the GIS program area
- Implements the GIS program in order to ensure optimum performance and to ensure that customers receive current and reliable information.
- Develops short and long range plans and goals for the overall direction of the GIS program to include developing, implementing, and monitoring policies and procedures in accordance with current professional standards.
- Supervises GIS personnel and activities.
- Supervises acquisition, implementation, and management of all GIS data generated by or acquired from outside departments, including quality control and quality assurance.
- Supervises computer system administration for GIS.
- Supervises development of city-wide technical standards for data and project production to ensure GIS project quality is met.
- Develops, programs, and maintains new GIS programs, applications, and systems as well as interfaces between various new and legacy databases.
- Maintains and updates databases using GIS, computer aided drafting, and other software.
- Conducts mapping research, in the field and in the office, to resolve conflicting information and ensure the accuracy of the data.
- Coordinates training sessions for GIS personnel and GIS users.
- Trains others on the use of new applications.
