Shipping & Receiving Manager
Job Description:
The Shipping and Receiving Manager is responsible for overseeing the efficient and accurate movement of goods within the organization. You will be responsible for managing a team, coordinating shipping and receiving activities, maintaining inventory accuracy, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and company policies. This position plays a vital role in optimizing logistics processes and maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and provide guidance to shipping and receiving staff, including hiring, training, scheduling and performance management.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, promoting teamwork and continuous improvement.
- Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of products.
- Collaborate with various departments to schedule shipments, prioritize orders and meet customer demands.
- Implement efficient routing and transportation strategies to minimize costs and maximize delivery speed.
- Oversee accurate tracking and recording of inventory levels using appropriate software systems.
- Conduct regular cycle counts and physical inventories to ensure data accuracy and identify discrepancies.
- Monitor stock levels to prevent stockouts or overstock situations, optimizing inventory turnover.
- Ensure products are properly packaged, labeled and documented for shipping in compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards.
- Monitor and enforce safety protocols in the shipping and receiving areas to prevent accidents and maintain a safe work environment.
- Maintain organized records of shipments, receipts and inventory transactions.
- Generate and analyze reports related to shipping and receiving activities, identifying trends, discrepancies and areas for improvement.
- Identify opportunities for streamlining processes, reducing costs and enhancing efficiency in shipping, receiving and inventory management.
- Develop and implement best practices to optimize workflows and improve overall logistics performance.
- Collaborate with customer service and sales teams to ensure accurate and timely order fulfillment.
- Address customer inquiries and concerns related to shipping and receiving processes.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).

Qualifications:
- Proven experience (7+ years) in shipping, receiving and inventory management, with a track record of progressively increasing responsibility.
- Experience in a variety of technology (desktops, laptops, PDAs, etc.).
- Experience using general office equipment (computer, fax machine, and copier, etc.).
- Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel (especially Excel spreadsheets) and Outlook.
- 3 years of customer service experience preferred.
- 5 years of leadership experience preferred.
- 5 years of inventory and warehouse management experience preferred.
- 7 years of warehouse supervisory experience preferred.
