Description:
The Senior Guidance Navigation and Control (GNC) engineer provides expertise to NASA’s Human Landing System (HLS) Program at Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC). We are seeking individuals with 20+ years of experience in flight control systems and analysis with demonstrated leadership experience. This position will be the Deputy GNC Discipline Lead for HLS and act as a main point of contact for commercial partners and cross-programs (Orion, Gateway, and Space Launch System).
Minimum Qualifications:
- Leadership of technical teams involved in the planning, execution and completion of design analysis cycles and trade studies.
- Proven ability to aid in the management of a diverse GNC engineering team.
- Experience developing and evaluating GNC subsystem requirements.
- Experience identifying GNC system risks and developing alternative approaches to mitigate any risks.
- Ability to develop and analyze 6-DOF dynamics simulation models used for GNC systems analysis and validation.
- Experience working with multiple spacecraft disciples to identify and promote solutions.
- Engage in multi-disciplinary vehicle systems investigations and provide assessments.
- Experienced in managing resources and leveraging support from multiple organizations with GNC expertise.
- Ability to assess hardware and software qualification plans in as the programs finalizes a Certification of Flight.
- Experience in developing approaches to evaluate providers GNC subsystem and develop independent analyses as warranted.
- Experience with verification and validation of technical products.
- Experienced in briefing senior leadership.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Postgraduate degree in physics or an engineering discipline.
- 15 Years of experience working as a GNC engineer.
- Experience in aerodynamics, sensors and actuators.
- Demonstrated project or professional experience in launch vehicle and/or spacecraft system.
- Capable of solving complex problems with little to no supervision on schedule as an individual or as a member of an integrated team.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
- Proven Leadership capability.
- Experience working with international partners and/or commercial providers.
