Windstar Lines is seeking a General Manager based at our Cedar Rapids, IA location. This manager position directs and coordinates all activities of the location to develop and grow the business with a strong focus on safety and quality, while managing the various functional areas of the organization.
Role Description
This is a Full-time General Manager position located on-site in Cedar Rapids, IA. The General Manager will oversee and operate daily activities and coordination of staff to include drivers, detailers, technicians and customer support.
Qualifications
- Experience in the transportation industry, preferably in motorcoach charter
- Management skills and experience overseeing the work of teams and staff
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a focus on customer satisfaction
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
- Proficiency in budgeting, financial strategy, and performance metrics
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and compliance standards
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Transportation, or a related field preferred
Essential Job Functions
- Ensures all departments are properly staffed by overseeing the effective recruiting, hiring, and promoting the right people for the right positions.
- Makes sure employees are being effectively managed daily to maximize productivity and morale, including through coaching of key leaders/employees.
- Optimizes employee performance through effective ongoing evaluations, recognition, rewards, and discipline/corrective-management to produce expected results.
- Strengthens employee performance through timely training and development.
- Effectively structures the organization’s systems, processes, and procedures to facilitate the achievement of results and productive intra-company/inter-departmental coordination.
- Successfully resolves deviations from expected performance through systems that monitor and track performance.
- Ensures adherence to policies and procedures; and makes policy recommendations to the executive team.
- Continuously seeks new and more productive ways to achieve company goals.
- Ensures the company proactively and effectively manages customer expectations.
- Promotes, evaluates, monitors and is responsive to customer feedback, including the resolution of issues and problems.
- Ability to timely respond to common inquiries or concerns both internally and from customers, the public and/or governmental and regulatory agencies.
- Ability to effectively present information to current and potential customers, executive management, and public groups.
- Competent with technology/computers including Microsoft Office suite.
- Strong mathematical and grammatical skills.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
