Role Description
We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and motivated General Manager for our new location in the Metropolitan Detroit, Michigan area. The General Manager will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of this fast-paced business, managing the client relations and relationships with independent motor carriers for a fleet of a minimum of 30 trucks and managing a team of 12 to 14 on-site staff. This position requires a self-starter who can oversee, manage, organize, hire, people management, automated routing systems and work with customer service personnel to develop our business relationship with our client and their customers in a very decentralized environment.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Work with client and corporate management to achieve company productivity and performance objectives
- Monitor key performance indicators; proactively identifying trends
- Recruit and oversee independent motor carriers and maintain positive working relationships
- Client and customer service relations
- Conflict resolution
- Oversight of claims management
- Maintain and uphold company policies and procedures
- Mentor and develop staff
Qualifications and Requirements
The candidate should have experience in final-mile white glove delivery, customer service and distribution. Candidate must also have a proven track record in improving overall operations, excellent team building and organizational skills, the ability to make proactive and important decisions.
- 5+ years of demonstrated leadership and motivational skills
- 3+ years of experience managing budgets and profit/loss goals
- Highly proficient in the use of MS Word, Excel, Outlook
- Bachelor’s Degree (not required, but preferred)
- Hands-on experience with routing technologies, specifically Dispatch Track
- Available for flexible work schedule, including weekends
- Ability to speak Spanish a plus
- Comprehensive understanding of Federal and State Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations
