Hours: 8am - 4:30pm Monday - Friday plus events

As a Plumber II, you'll play a critical role in maintaining the plumbing systems that support UCF's extensive campus infrastructure, including residential, academic, and athletic buildings. This position offers steady hours with the added excitement of providing support during key UCF events, such as basketball games and graduations, requiring occasional shift flexibility. You’ll work within a collaborative crew, handling maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs to keep the campus running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities:
- Event Support & Flexibility: Be flexible to accommodate major campus events, supporting athletic venues and other special functions while ensuring plumbing systems run without interruption.
- Preventive Maintenance: Execute preventive maintenance (PM) and predictive maintenance (PDM) to identify and prevent potential failures across a wide variety of plumbing systems, from bathrooms to laboratories.
- Installation & Repairs: Install, maintain, test, and troubleshoot plumbing components such as pumps, faucets, valves, traps, water heaters, sewage systems, and other campus-related plumbing infrastructure.
- Project Support: Assist central shops and contractors with ongoing projects and respond quickly to maintenance requests across the university.
- Team Collaboration: Work alongside a collaborative team of electricians, HVAC techs, and maintenance personnel to maintain UCF's facilities. Take part in coaching and mentoring Plumber I team members, contributing to their development.
- Documentation & Reporting: Complete work orders, document labor hours, materials, and actions using UCF’s Integrated Work Management System (IWMS). Ensure accurate record-keeping and reporting of any deficiencies or issues.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and codes, including national and state plumbing standards.
Minimum Qualifications
- Licensing: Must hold a valid Plumber’s License in the State of Florida or the ability to get one within 2 months.
- Experience: A minimum of 3 years of relevant plumbing experience in maintenance, installation, and repair work.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience: 3+ years of plumbing experience working in commercial, university, or corporate environments.
- Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of plumbing trade tools, materials, and procedures, including the ability to read blueprints and use diagnostic equipment (e.g., electrical meters).
- Leadership Skills: Ability to delegate, train, and motivate team members, including those from diverse backgrounds.
- Computer Skills: Proficiency in using programs like Microsoft Office and Integrated Work Management Systems (IWMS) for tracking work orders and reporting.
- Adaptability: Flexibility to handle urgent situations, such as major event support, and manage plumbing system inventories across campus buildings.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills to interact with customers, supervisors, and team members. Ability to understand safety procedures and operate electronic devices like iPod Touch for AiM PM checkpoints.
